DescriptionAlan Banks lived throughout the northern United States before attending graduate school and beginning his doctoral research in Canada. Before coming to EKU, Banks worked at Union College where he taught sociology and Appalachian studies. In this interview, Dr. Banks discusses his role in creating the Appalachian Center and a minor in Appalachian Studies. He recounts the early stages and years before its establishment and what it has accomplished since its inception.
