  • Description: Dr. Ron Hatcher and his wife, Elsie discuss their long history with Rocky Mountain horses. Originally residents of Clay County, the Hatchers relocated to the Bowling Green area when Dr. Hatcher began practicing medicine. In their interview, the Hatchers discuss their introduction to the Rocky Mountain Horse breed and the subsequent breeding program they started in Bowling Green. They detail their thoughts on the characteristics, conformation, and general qualities of the breed. They also comment on specific horses and other breeders and horse advocates who helped them establish their breeding program, including Eugene Sebastian of Clay County. They wrap up the interview with suggestions and words of advice for anybody who is searching for or looking into purchasing their first horse.
