He tells how Blue Diamond purchased Stearns, how he viewed both Blue Diamond and Stearns, as well as the history of Stearns Mining Company. He also discusses how he viewed the treatment of miners under both companies, why the miners went on strike, how the United Mine Workers of America became involved in the strike, the Scotia Mining Accident, and how the strike affected the both Blue Diamond Coal Company and Stearns Mining Company.
