  • Description: Joan Mitchell was born in Shelby County, Kentucky in 1936. Mitchell graduated from EKU with a B.A. in 1957 and a M.A. the following year. Upon completing her education she took up a position as a high school Physical Education instructor. Donna Wolfe was born in 1947, and received a M.A. from EKU in 1970. In the following interview both women discuss their experiences as Physical Education educators in Kentucky. Included in their discussions are talks about their roles in Kentucky high school women's athletics programs and their participation in developing competition opportunities for women in multiple regions in Kentucky. Discussions over Title IX regulations, and the Kentucky Girl's Sports Association (KGSA) are of special interest.
