Description

Shirley Ann Laney was born in the year 1934 in Texas. Laney was involved in a variety of women's sports programs throughout the state. In the following interview Laney discusses Kentucky women's athletics at the secondary and post-secondary levels. Included in the interview are discussions over women's amateur golf championships, "Basketball Bill" and numerous aspects of women's high school and collegiate basketball programs. Also included are discussions on Title IX regulations, track and field activities and the roles that colleges and competition officials played in shaping women's sports in Kentucky.
