Kentucky Murders


The single interivew in this collection focuses on the murder of Verna Garr Taylor, and the killing of the accused murderer Brigadier General Henry Denhardt. Taylor was found dead from a gunshot wound to the chest on November 6, 1936. Denhardt, a decorated war veteran and lieutenant govenor of Kentucky from 1923 to 1927, was tried in court shortly after Taylor's murder. The first trail ended in a hung jury. Before the retrial, Denhardt was shot and killed by Taylor's brothers, E.S., Jack, and Roy, in Shelbyville, KY. Howard Flood, the interviewee, was witness to Denhardt's murder. He describes the night of the murder, the events leading up to it, and the aftermath of the event.
