Kentucky School Superintendents
Description
This project was done in conjunction with two others: Kentucky County Judges and Kentucky Newspapers. The purpose of the three projects was to document Kentucky politics by interviewing politically astute members of the local power structure (judges and school superintendents) and observers of local politics (newspaper editors and owners).
School superintendents discuss Kentucky politics, education, their personal histories and careers, and their roles and influence in the social and political history of their counties. Almost every county is represented.
A revisit of the project was launched in the fall of 2019 with the help of Kentucky Oral History Commission grant funding and the efforts of Nate Daniels and Crystal Allen-Daniels. Additional interviews will be added as second phase interviews are collected and processed into the collection.
