Highland School Basketball State Tournament
Description
These interviews tell the story of how Highland High's 1938 basketball team rose to the top, despite being "Gymless Wonders." The moniker was coined by the Courier Journal at the time of the team's climb into the State Tournament. Interviewees recall practicing outside, in all kinds of weather. The team packed themselves into one car to get to games. There was only one cheerleader, but the team also had overwhelming support from family and friends. Interviewees discuss the State Tournament, as well as regional games, wins and losses. Also mentioned are the names of team players from the 1936 to 1938 teams.
